Glossary: the science behind your skincare
Cosmetics has its own vocabulary. Polyphenols, Viniferine, Resveratrol… so many terms that deserve to be understood, not just pronounced. Here you'll find the keys to decode our formulas and better choose what you apply to your skin.
Glycolic Acid
INCI : GLYCOLIC ACID & WATER & ARGININE
An alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that gently exfoliates, smooths skin texture and revives radiance while stimulating cell renewal.
A polysaccharide naturally present in the skin, capable of holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water. It plays a key role in skin hydration, firmness and suppleness.
Extracted from wintergreen leaves. An oil-soluble exfoliating acid that unclogs pores, reduces blemishes and soothes inflammation, making it ideal for combination to oily skin.
Eco-extracted from honey locust seeds. Rich in galactomannan polysaccharides, it forms a 3D film on the skin's surface, providing an immediate lifting and smoothing effect.
An exclusive Caudalie active, obtained from the Saccharomyces yeast used in winemaking. This active is renowned for reinforcing the skin barrier, limiting water loss and soothing the skin by stimulating its defence mechanisms.
Derived from Butyrospermum Parkii nuts, 100% organic and fair-trade, produced in Burkina Faso and Mali. These compounds give it anti-erythema activity, an action on tissue regeneration and emollient, softening and moisturising properties.
A patented active, 100% natural in origin, obtained through green extraction from responsibly sourced rosewood. It stimulates the main markers of skin firmness and support (several collagens, fibulin-7 and hyaluronic acid) to help redefine the facial contours, smooth wrinkles and restore a younger, more harmonious appearance.
Caffeine, sourced from different regions, exerts several biological actions: it stimulates microcirculation to reduce dark circles and puffiness, has antioxidant activity, helps reduce redness and promotes lipolysis.
Extracted from chamomile flowers. An ideal ingredient for inflamed and tired skin. It has disinfectant properties, flavonoids with soothing and anti-irritant properties and mucilages with moisturising and soothing properties.
Obtained through bio-fermentation. Identical to the lipids of the skin barrier, it reinforces it, limits water loss and provides comfort, particularly for dry and sensitive skin.
A Centella Asiatica extract concentrated in triterpenes (>25%) with antimicrobial, repairing, anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. It reinforces the skin barrier by stimulating ceramides and improves hydration via aquaporins, for visibly soothed skin.
Derived from grapeseed, rich in antioxidant vitamin E and soothing phytosterols, obtained through a clean distillation process. It helps preserve the skin's collagen, protecting it against UV rays, infrared and blue light. It soothes and preserves the skin barrier.
INCI : ROSA DAMASCENA FLOWER WATER & ROSA DAMASCENA FLOWER OIL
Soothing, it tones, softens and tightens pores. Its sebum-regulating action helps balance the skin. Ideal for bringing freshness, comfort and radiance every day.
Rich in polyphenols, it has antioxidant and soothing properties. Among these polyphenols are tannins and flavonoids with astringent and draining properties.
A plant oil derived from castor seeds. Its composition, rich in ricinoleic acid, gives it nourishing, soothing, antioxidant and repairing properties and strengthens the hair and lashes.
A patented Caudalie active, OPCs (Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins) are upcycled French grapeseed extracts. Powerful antioxidant polyphenols, they help protect the skin from free radicals and premature ageing and strengthen the skin's natural defence mechanisms.
Provitamin B5 renowned for its soothing, moisturising and repairing properties. It helps the skin regenerate, reinforces the skin barrier and reduces feelings of discomfort.
A remodelling peptide derived from kyotorphin. It reinforces the elastic architecture, combats sagging and redefines the facial contours, with a clinically visible improvement in firmness and viscoelasticity.
A patented Caudalie active, derived from French grapevine shoots. A powerful firmness and longevity active: it protects the skin from oxidative stress, preserves collagen, boosts elastin and supports the natural mechanisms of youth for firmer, lifted skin.
A biomimetic emollient derived from olive oil, perfectly stable and close to natural sebum, which nourishes, softens and reinforces the skin barrier without a greasy feel.
A patented Caudalie active derived from upcycled French grapevine sap, Viniferine acts at the heart of the pigmentation mechanisms to prevent and correct dark spots. Effective on all types of dark spots (acne, sun, melasma, age, blue light, post-aesthetic procedure) and on all skin tones, without irritation or photosensitisation. It offers a triple action at all levels of the epidermis: production and regulation of tyrosinase and melanin, then limiting its transfer to the skin's surface.
A beta-glucan obtained from the Saccharomyces yeast used in winemaking. Renowned for reinforcing the skin barrier, limiting water loss and soothing the skin by stimulating its defence mechanisms.
Obtained from grapeseed oil. It stimulates vascularisation, activates hair growth and restores the integrity of the fibre, revealing denser, more resilient and visibly revitalised hair.
